TRAVEL
The Biloxi area is accessible directly from a number of airports, including the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport, New Orleans, and Mobile. The Gulfport-Biloxi Airport is the host airport for the conference. A welcome station will be available for all conference attendees upon arrival (24-26 October). The Gulfport-Biloxi Airport recently completed a renovation after being devastated by Hurricane Katrina and is now providing service through an increased number of carriers. Attendees coming from other airports will need to secure a rental car for transportation from the airport to the convention hotel.
ACCOMODATIONS
The Beau Rivage Resort and Casino is the host hotel for OCEANS 2009. A block of rooms has been reserved for conference attendees in this luxurious hotel. Rooms and suites will be available at very reasonable group-rate prices. The hotel features entertainment that includes headliners, a theater, and special events; dining to include preparations by renowned Chef Todd English; a spa and salon; a Tom Fazio designed golf course, a pool and lounging area overlooking the Mississippi Sound and barrier islands; a 24-hour casino; and numerous amenities. Transportation will be provided from the Beau Rivage to the Mississippi Coast Convention Center for the conference. Busses will run periodically during all conference days to enable you to create a schedule that gives you the best combination of technical presentations, tours, events, and relaxation.
Additional blocks at other hotels will be made available for students and for those who would like to experience the gulf coast in a vacation-like atmosphere.
